Austin City Walk

An evening stroll by the Colorado river

Austin Texas is home to basically anything you can think of. Amazing food, great sights, wonderful skyline, and cool people. In the month we have lived here we have experienced all of the above and can’t wait to experience even more! Here is a little snippet from what I saw on my Austin city walk!

I was getting a little antsy one day and decided to hop in the car and go somewhere to take photos. I kind of wanted to go to a park and do some hiking but I’m pretty terrible when it comes to nature photography. Parking alongside the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail (whew, that was a mouthful) which runs next to the Colorado river gives great access to many areas. This trail is full of walkers, runners, bikers and sightseers. I then crossed over the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge to get to the downtown area.

Molly and I had only driven by this area so it was great to get out and see what was here. The Seaholm power plant is very close to the bride and is actually a pretty cool spot. Up the street from that is Trader Joe’s and a bunch of other higher end shops and eateries. All of these places are underneath this canopy of skyscrapers. Down below is Shoal Creek which right now is pretty well dried up but beautiful nonetheless.

I enjoy getting to know the city I live in, especially one as wonderful as Austin! I love architecture, tall buildings and the people that make up a city. Yes, most of these photos are a generic representation of Austin but I did this more so as a location scout for any photo shoots in the future. This is the first of the Austin City Walk series.
